Our Resident Guard Dog

Ol' Ironside

Constructed by Jack Dollar and donated by Stephen Kemp, this fierce pup has been greeting museum goers for decades. According to his plaque at the entrance of the museum:

You can see our dog is of mixed breed with many unusual parts. He's very diligent in guarding our antiquities. He is on duty 24/7 and never leaves his post. Although he is docile, he is extremely tenacious - the toughest dog in the fight. 

Our Collections

The Hill County Museum is a historic cell block museum housed in the historic Hill County Jail. Our mission is to preserve and showcase the rich history of Hill County and its people. Through exhibits, and educational programs, we strive to educate visitors of all ages about the cultural heritage of our region and the importance of historic preservation.
